From the Minister

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” - Matthew 5:16.

Dear North Highlands Family,

What a blessing it is to be coming home to North Highlands! It hardly seems possible that it was twenty years ago when I first began serving as your youth minister. Through the years, some things have changed, but many of our core blessings and values remain the same.

In my letter for the 2005 Plan of Work, I reminded us of how blessed we are to be a part of this great church family by stating, “We are blessed with strong and solid leadership, sound preaching, involved members, fine young people, a great mix of ages, and wonderful facilities.” Not surprisingly, those blessings are still ours as we begin 2020. And, while I neglected to write about it all those years ago, we are also blessed to be a part of a church family that always loves deeply.

It is an honor to begin serving as your preacher and minister. I covet your prayers as I undertake the responsibility of continuing the legacy of powerful preaching and teaching that the North Highlands family both deserves and expects.

Opportunities abound and God’s mission demands that we embrace them. For all of us, there is the challenge to follow well; to be the disciples that Jesus calls us to be. And there are still souls that need to be reached for Jesus. Everything we’re about should find its core purpose in either seeking the lost or helping the saved stay saved. Every program and activity undertaken by the North Highlands family should also bring glory to God.

I am excited about 2020 and look forward to working together for the advancement of the Lord’s kingdom. Thank you for affording me the blessing of being your preacher!

In His Service,

Philip
